Practice fighting

(sorry for the lame topic title - I hate coming up with topic titles and it is late and am sleepy)

Stormwatcher couldn't believe it - but after days of searching his friend, companion and pal sun was gone. A lot of skyclan was gone - Honey, Smoke and many more too. The big tom sat in camp ear twitching. He was barely holding it together. He wanted to scream or something or fight someone that could work to.

His eyes darted around camp any more feral - any more push would probably send him over the edge right now and make him lose his mind.

"Falcon! Come here and spar! We gotta practice for when we gut those fish eaters!" he had begun taking to calling riverclanners fish eaters and his anger towards them had never ever gone away - What they had done that day was still a blood debt he intended to collect on.

If sun had been made deputy they probably could have already done just that - so why hadn't falcon? The toms eyes narrowed - he managed to keep his cool barely for now - He remembered that falcon was cool calm and (for the most part) collected - He had seen the deputy go feral beyone what even he was at now right before the riverlcan fight - where was that side of falcon?

Deep down - Storm knew it was probably for the best that falcon slow played their moves around riverclan - for now - but he for one was getting tired of waiting.

"When are we gonna have a chance to do something about them" he muttered under his breath frustration oozing off his words.

Falconmoon plopped two mice, a robin and a fat squirrel onto the fresh-kill pile, pleased with his haul. His belly rumbled, and truth be told he was getting famished after working so much. He debated yanking one of the mice out of the fresh-kill pile and gulping it, just enough to keep him sated for a little while longer... when Stormwatcher called out to him. The deputy looked at him and blinked once. After everything that happened, as much as he hated to admit it, Riverclan was the furthest thing from his mind.

Falconmoon honestly probably looked like a deer in the headlights for just a moment, but once he gathered himself, he turned toward Stormwatcher and approached. He said nothing as he closed the gap until they were a fox length away from each other, where he halted his advance forward.

"We can spar, Stormwatcher." He said calmly, his expression as neutral as ever if not on the tired side. "But I believe our conflict with Riverclan has ended, even if your grudge remains." He didn't give Stormwatcher a chance to respond before he bolted forward. There was no leaping, just a dead, head-on charge.

Falconmoon's teeth went directly for the side of Stormwatcher's neck just behind the corner of his jaw bone, though he wouldn't be applying any lethal pressure. Maybe enough to cause some bruising, but nothing beyond that. He additionally swiped a foreleg forward in an attempt to trip his opponent up.

Alas, Stormwatcher proved to be more nimble than Falconmoon anticipated, especially for a surprise attack. Good. Falconmoon had hoped a warrior as experienced as Stormwatcher wouldn't be an easy adversary.

The attempt that falcon had taken to hit him was easy to read and even easier to sidestep.  Tsk tsk the deputy should know better than to overcommit the way he head long went into this already left openings at his side.  Maybe all that hunting had made him tired or maybe he was just plain less experienced than himself thought stormwatcher.

He shrugged attempting to jab a paw into falcons rips that were exposed after falcons frontal swipe had missed.


Yup… the deputy was moving slower today thought storm as his paw dug into the deputy’s side. He sighed a little almost having a bit of disappointment in the sigh. Falcon had been the best of them - surely he was not already beating the deputy at his own game? His eyes narrowed ears flicking at falcons thoughts on the matter. “So they roll into our land kill our leader and get off free?” He asked. He actually did well to keep his tone neutral. It was simply a question for now though his bias was clear.

The jab to the ribs made Falconmoon grunt, but he was at least smart enough to exhale and minimize whatever damage there may have been otherwise. Seeing Stormwatcher's paw leave the ground, however, Falconmoon rammed a shoulder toward Stormwatcher's own ribs in an attempt to knock him on his side.

MISS

His hunger was doing him no favors. Stormwatcher moved again as Falconmoon's stomach rumbled in protest. He should have eaten first. Ah well. "It was a conflict that never should have happened. I lost a sis-" He caught himself. "A grandmother and an aunt in that battle. I still don't seek vengeance. Perchstar paid with a life, then she lost a friend permanently as well. She's paid her penance. Now if a Riverclanner is caught on our territory again, Stormwatcher, I will not be the one to deny you the opportunity to rip them apart and send their guts and head back to Riverclan."

The deputy swung and missed him again.  My dear friend, if a riverclan cat is on our side I do hope I am with you when it happens.  Your fighting form has fallen clearly” he meowed shaking his head disapprovingly at falcons moss yet again.  Stormwatcher and him were friends of course but the type of friends that fed off this little teasing of sorts .

He was glad to know that at least he had permission to protect the boarder to whatever end.  That would make him relax for now.

He moved easily to the side evading yet again. Falcon had tried to copy him and it was clear from the very beginning.

His ears laid back out of pure instinct just upon hearing the name perchstar… and what sis?? Birdstar was his adopted sister sure but there was no way that was the case for falcon.  The warrior blinked … that could only mean one thing falcon had seen beech as a sister just as he had seen bird as an older sister of sorts.  He had to admit he hadn’t thought falcon would have considered beech a sister but he wouldn’t judge his friend over that

(Lol storm has no idea I love how that’s his conclusion from all that)


He swiped angerly at the deputy the thought and even the mention of perchstar enough to get him a swinging!!!

A paw right to the jaw of falcon. Storm frowned a little- this should not be this easy- the deputy clearly needed practice

A half year ago the lazy warrior wouldn’t have even dreamt in his wildest dreams of beating falcon but now that he had actually tried to improve it was almost frightening him how easy this spar had been this far.

Come on falcon! You can’t get caught by that he meowed frustrated as ever.  A strange feeling hit him- he didn’t want to win this spar - not like this - it hadn’t even been a challenge- was this their deputy?

You can do it falcon… come onnn hittt meee he thought bitterly.

Stormwatcher was right. The spar should not be going like this. Maybe the stress from losing so much of his family, his clanmates, all in one go had affected him more than he realized. Falconmoon had tried to shoulder the burden for everyone and shut his own feelings out. He'd never truly taken the time to mourn, too worried about Thymelight. Was this what Bloodstrike had gone through? Was this Starclan trying to actively punish him or what he'd done?

A strike to the jaw had Falconmoon stagger back. Okay ow... that one had hurt. Catching his footing again, he shook his head as if he had mites in his ears. His jaw throbbed in time with his heartbeat. Falconmoon can't handle this. A voice inside him chided. The pale warrior looked at Stormwatcher and took a moment to clear his mind. He'd let loose his alter before, but that had been real battle. Could he... should he step aside and let Dawnhawk loose over a spar? Maybe it would be a good experiment.

Let's see... but only for a moment Dawnhawk. Don't you dare kill him. Falconmoon's legs went rigid and his eyes hardened into azure diamonds. His nose wrinkled and his teeth slipped from behind his lips. He bolted forward, near lethal intent in every swift, precise movement. A sudden feint to the side, he leaped onto a trunk with all four paws, then kicked off of it. His teeth sought the back of Stormwatcher's neck.

Dawnhawk activated? Nope. Lol

As he neared Stormwatcher, the fury in his eyes fizzled out and his body lost it's rigidity. What became of it was a floppy, uncoordinated mess. He sighed and stepped back. "I guess I'm just not with it today Stormwatcher." He said, not proudly. Turned out, Dawnhawk would not be called forth for anything that was not lethal intent. True lethal intent.

Stormeatchers eyes narrowed in an almost mix of pity and pure disappointment.  He pittied that his friend was this tired and exhausted and was disappointed that the deputy and future leader of their clan was failing this hard. He watched as falcon went all stuff and lunged at him and he braced but at the last second the deputy had fallen all over his self in a mess of paws all over the place.

Falcon… are you Erm… okay? This is pathetic I know you and this is not yourself. he shook his head disapprovingly

Whatever had happened to him had left the deputy washed and on a level that storm did not even consider apprentice worthy.

The warrior didn’t hold back and went swiping for falcons paws and legs that were already in a tangled mess from whatever that flailed attempt at an attack was



For once the deputy managed to dodge - which was a good thing because the warrior had already lost a lot of faith in him already. Good so you can dodge- now wake up the rest of the way. Stop trying to hit me and hit me already! he yowled sharply. He would be falcons drill instructor until the deputy could actually show why he was deputy. Deep down it was not out of spite - it was because he wanted falcon to be the best and that meant he could not be losing to anyone himself included - sadly it looked like he had a lot of work- perhaps falcon could join blaze paws next training session

These claws were not made for games. A voice of ice and thorns hissed in the back of his mind. Falconmoon ducked low and rolled away from Stormwatcher's next attack. We were not born for mediocrity. Falconmoon suddenly felt hot, hot enough to start panting, though he kept his mouth shut. He wasn't actually hot. This wasn't real. If we're going to strike, then we do it with claws. If we do it with claws, we aim to kill. Falconmoon took in a deep breath and forced the shadows from his mind. The shadows weren't just the remnants of the Dark Forest speaking, but also the images of the bodies of his kits and clanmates on display after dogs got ahold of them.

The fact that Sunfire had disappeared was forced from his thoughts as well.

Fox off, Dawnhawk. I don't need to kill to prove my worth. We are one, but I am not you. Falconmoon leaped forward, now extending a clawed paw forward without thinking about it. Stormwatcher wanted to be struck, so be it. This time he would mean it, despite him scolding the darkness in him to leave him be.

And yet, his claws hit only empty air. A laughter that was his and not his echoed in his head. Falconmoon is nothing on his own. We were stronger in the dark. Forsake the light. Go to the Nightfangs once more.
